C;windowssystems32ping.com is not a valid win32 application?
This happends when i go to install something. also when i go to run and put in CMD it say ,cmd is not a valid win32 application, also iv tryed searching everyway possible including hidden files and folders for the systems32 folder and it is not on my computer. im on windows xp can someone please help me i just dont no what to do. I have also done a virus scan with kaspersky and it ant showing any viruses
is there any software i can buy or anything i can do hat will help me
sometimes malicious software changes the registry such that essential windows executables are replaced with bogus programs. It sounds like this was attempted, but the malicious executable (ping.com) was not properly put into wherever it needed to go.
If you cannot actually install ANY software, I suppose that would include any antivirus software. I would do the following:
1. get any useful data OFF that machine; to a USB drive or something
2. Scan the USB drive for viruses from a different computer using McAfee and/or AVG;
3. Re-format the system drive on the infected machine and reinstall the OS.
